November Gym Round Up

This month saw multiple developments across Europe; from refurbishments, to openings, to big announcements.

As always - If you have news to share, we want to know and get the whole industry involved!

Germany

Mandala Boulderhalle

Mandala has opened their second site in Dresden, in Postplatz, on the 9th November. A premium facility built by Blocz which includes triple(!) adjustable training boards, a bistro and a welcoming, open-plan layout.

Einstein sees Double

The German bouldering chain Einstein Boulderhalle announced 2 new gyms this month, new locations are coming to Köln (Cologne) and Munchen Ost (East Munich). Both sites are being designed and built by Benky Climbing and look spacious, offering a wide range of angles to play on.

SteinBlock re-opens

The renowned German bouldering gym SteinBlock reopened its doors on November 30th after an extensive refurbishment. The wall has not only rebuilt the walls, but expanded the climbing surface by 150sqm, installed an adjustable KilterBoard, replaced the boulder matting throughout and modernised the fitness training space. The new Apex range of holds by Chapter are sure to make an appearance!

EifelBlock Opens Third Gym

On the 30th November German bouldering gym EifelBlock opened its third site, this time in the Koblenz-Metternich area. The large, 1000sqm gym hosts multiple boards, fitness and yoga spaces, cafe and a shop.

Slovakia

The Spot Climbing Gym

Bratislava, Slovakia, welcomes a new bouldering gym. They opened on the 16th November with a huge Spotlight Boulder Jam competition. The wall was built by Slovakian manufacturer Anatomic Holds & Walls.

Netherlands

Boulderhal Boulderwijk nears Completion

The new bouldering gym in The Netherlands appears to have finished routesetting and is undergoing final preparations for opening. The DreamWall built facility makes great use of a new-build warehouse in Beverwijk. Keep your eyes peeled for an imminent opening date.

Spain

Spanish Travel Company Opens its First Gym

Vertical Emotions has opened its new gym, Roctoc, in the north east of the country with the help of All4Climbing. Situated in La Bisbal, the gym offers both ropes and bouldering, a full bar and cafe, and small retail space. Roctoc opened its doors to the public on the 9th November

Sputnik Climbing continues to Grow

The powerhouse Spanish gym chain recently teased an update for their latest location, that it is opening imminently! Sputnik Chamberi, Madrid, will be a well-lit full-service gym offering the now-classic Sputnik Canteen, ropes, autobelays, boulders and a workout gym space. Chamberi aims to open around the 19th December, Walltopia is the main contractor for the build.

Denmark

Beta Boulders #5

The Copenhagen-based bouldering chain has announced that its fifth, an largest, site is coming in Autumn/Winter 2025. Beta has teased that it will be located somewhere between Aarhus, Odense and Copenhagen, and that it will host 180 boulders and a large training space.

France

Beal Climbing Opens new Training Facility

French climbing hardware company, Beal, has opened its IRATA Training facility at their Headquarters in Pont-Eveque, France. With rope access technicians in high demand it is a sound investment in the future.

United Kingdom

270Climbing Progresses Toward Full Opening

Gloucester, UK, based climbing and adventure centre 270Climbing has officially opened its bouldering facilities to the public on 29th November. Once complete the DreamWall-built facility will rival the largest in Europe; featuring extensive bouldering, including kids specific walls, lead and top rope walls up to 15m both indoors and out, IFSC Speed Walls, and an impressive multi-level outdoor ropes course. The business also owns The Warehouse climbing wall in Gloucester which recently closed permanently in order to transition to the new site.

Prior Brothers Rebrand First Gym

Sam and Ben Prior, owners of The Ballroom Coventry and Social Climbing Leicester have taken the bold step of rebranding their first site in Coventry to match its sibling. This rebrand will now allow members to enjoy climbing at both sites and bring a more cohesive marketing strategy to the business.

A Rising Tide!

Tide Climbing in the South West of the UK has completed its new competition bouldering wall in partnership with Walltopia. The full height wall expansion offers a solid variety of angles well suited to modern competition climbing, including slab!
